This is my blog so I should be writing my own album review. So if you see 'FLARE WRITTEN' on the top of a review that means I wrote it. I thought of doing my first album review on Lady GaGa's Born This Way but since I cannot find any reliable review on Perfectionist, I thought I would start from this album. Remember this is my first.
So lets get to the album. First, if you aren’t familiar with Natalia Kills, she is a British singer songwriter who is signed to Interscope / Cherrytree records. Natalia got her big break after reaching the top of the unsigned charts on MySpace and later on got discovered by will.i.am who helped her get signed to Cherrytree Records. Natalia describes her sound as dark sounding pop music. Zombie, the first single from the album was released last summer and it was followed by Mirrors. Both singles helped Natalia gather a lot of buzz for her album but neither got any top 40 treatment.
When you click the play button, the first thing you will hear is the robotic 32 seconds intro that is called Perfection. I love intro on an album but this want seems a little bit pointless. But then the album opens up to the third single of the album, probably my favorite song at the moment from the album, Wonderland. I would say if any track that would get her some radio attention it will be this song which was just release on US iTunes on Tuesday and the video last week. The album then continues from Free till If I Was God. All beautifully written and produce. And in the middle of it all, you might just feel (this is probably the only problem with the album) that you are just listening to one long song with a lots of good parts. This is because I think the songs have like a cousins relations meaning that it sounds similar and by the end of the 50 minutes of listening to the album, you would just be tired. I don't why but I felt that. Maybe its just me. I don't know. But even with that I still want to press play and hear the album again and again. And one more thing. I just want to make sure it isn't just me. Do you guys listen some Selena Gomez or maybe Avril Lavigne in the track Heaven. Maybe one of the other effects of the album is imagining listening to some other artist voice too. HAHA.
I would also like to say the main thing that just wrapped this whole album together into a wonderful album is her VOICE. With that rock voice mix with the 90's glam modern techno pop self-written songs, comes out Perfectionist, a debut POP album that deserve people's ear. Lastly, I would recommend listening to this album track by track. Not in all in one listen and pay attention to Wonderland, Free, Mirrors, Broke and Heaven. Wow thats too much recommendation. Well that shows how GOOD the album is (minus the tiring affect you get after).
I cannot do the normal Overall rating thing because I cannot find any professional review on the album to put into the equation but I as in the 'Pop Flares' in the normal album review, gives it a:
So that's the review. Do you like it? Do you want me to keep doing it? Or just post reviews by professionals? Comment Below.
