GRAMMY NOMINATIONS!!!!!

Kanye West nabbed a leading seven nominations for the 54th annualGrammy Awards announced Wednesday, but the rapper ceded the brightest light of music industry esteem to British singer Adele, whose six nominations include the most prestigious categories: record, album and song of the year.

West's nods came predominantly in rap categories, with just one, a co-writer credit for "All of the Lights," in the song of the year competition. His "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" CD is nominated for rap album but didn't make the cut for album of the year.

Adele's "21" is the biggest album of 2011, with sales of 4.7 million. Her singing voice has been temporarily silenced, however, by vocal cord surgery, which prematurely ended her American tour. It's not clear whether Adele will be sufficiently recovered to perform when the Grammy Awards are handed out Feb. 12 in Los Angeles.

Her single "Rolling in the Deep" is up for record of the year honors, which recognizes performance and production, along with Bon Iver's "Holocene,"Bruno Mars' "Grenade," Mumford & Sons' "The Cave" and Katy Perry's "Firework." "Rolling" is also up for song of the year.

Adele's "21" will compete with the Foo Fighters'"Wasting Light," Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" and Rihanna's "Loud" for album of the year.

Best new artist nominees along with Bon Iver are country trio The Band Perry, rappers J. Cole and Nicki Minaj, and DJ-dance music performer Skrillex.

Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning in July, collected a posthumous nomination for her duet with Tony Bennett on "Body and Soul," in the pop duo or group performance category.

Surprisingly, the two fastest-selling albums of the last 12 months, Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" -- the first collections in more than five years to sell more than a million copies in their first week of release -- collectively generated just one nomination in the top four categories, an album-of-the-year nod for "Born This Way." Swift, whose third album has sold almost 3.8 million copies, is vying for country album honors, and her anti-bullying single "Mean" is nominated for country song and solo performance.

Wednesday's live "Grammy Nominations Concert" was dominated by opening and closing act Lady Gaga, who lead off with her latest single, "Marry the Night."

Announcement: Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto

Coldplay have just annouced that their upcoming fifth album will be called, "Mylo Xyloto". Above is the official 'reversible' album covers and below is a short note posted on their website.

Mylo Xyloto was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno. The album will be released in digital, CD and vinyl formats. A special limited edition Pop-Up Album version will also be available, which will include a 12" x 12" hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A. Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band's personal notebooks. 

The next single from the album is called Paradise. It's coming out on September 12.

Lady Gaga just tweeted a still coming from the music video of "You And I". Many reported that the woman is Lady Gaga and the man on the piano is also Gaga dressing up as her alter-ego, Joe Calderone. The video was said to premiere on her 1000th tweet, which is just 7 tweets away.

The picture fits with picture of the ballet shoes, Gaga tweeted a few weeks back.

Flares: Selena Gomez & The Scene - When The Sun Goes Down

From Beyonce who her last album was release three years ago to Selena who have release three albums in the last two years. B concentrate on quality rather than quantity while Selena's music is not at Beyonce's quality but quite good and release in massive quantity.


The album consists of dance-pop radio ready songs, that unfortunately won't be release to mainstream. This is because the increasing cost to release a mainstream single to radio, estimated at 1 million dollars per song. Seems silly but this left the small Disney-owned, Hollywood Records not able to release it but still made a video for it to promote the album rather than the single. Enough about this, the song itself is one of my favorites from the album. You will feel a mixture of fantasy and magic when you hear it and was actually portrayed very well in the video.


We then have tracks like Bang Bang Bang, My Dilemma, Outlaw and Middle of Nowhere. All about boys. First about she showing off her new boyfriend. the second one about she cannot stop loving this boy, the third one about she fallen in love with a boy that doesn't believe in love and the last one is about a guy leaving her after promising that he won't. All four tracks have the same sound, very upbeat dance techno track.


Then we have the self empowering songs, Who Says and Hit The Lights. The first one, you probably have heard it over and over on the radio, which did quite well commercially more than even I thought it would be. It's about believing yourself, you are good, you are beautiful. Very typical. Next is Hit The Lights about again believing yourself to achieve what you want.


Next we have the songs that is written by a few special peoples, When The Sun Goes Down, Whiplash, We Own The Night, That's More Like It. The first was co-written by the band bass player Joey Clement, the second one co-written by Britney Spears showing a very sexy side of Selena, the third one, one of my favorites, co-written by Pixie Lott about enjoying your life in the moment and lastly the fun "Who Run The World (Girls)" kinda track, co-written by Katy Perry.


That's all for the album. Overall it's a very solid album the only problem I have is that the tracks is not as cohesive as A Year Without Rain which had more focus.

One more thing I would to talk is about how her album sales shows the condition of the music industries the past two years. Her first album, Kiss and Tell debuted at no. 9 with sales of 66,000. Her second album, A Year Without Rain debuted at no. 4 with the same number of sales. This shows the industry dip in 2010 where an album that sold 66,000 copies in the year debuted at no. 4 where a year before with the same number it debuted at no. 9. And now we see an improvement in the industry where the album sold 78,000 and debuted at no. 4. Still the same no. placement but different copies sold. I hope this will continue in the music industry. I encourage people to buy original, please!!!

News: Selena Gomez - When The Sun Goes Down (Alex Kazemi Review)

This is the review by Alex Kazemi for the album, When The Sun Goes Down to be release June 28.

Selena Gomez erupted onto The Scene with bratty synth-pop  and a spawn of Lizzie Mcguire-esque punk attitude on 2009′s Kiss & Tell. The bubble gum pop-tart, whose lyrics once gave off the impression that she bought jelly  bracelets and chokers from Claire’s in hope to be looked at as “bad-ass,” and attempted to further the image on a duet with scene-punk act Forever The Sickest Kids, ultimately without success. Selena & The Scene released their followup, A Year Without Rain in 2010. The album displayed a universal sound, finally, garnished with euro-dancehall influence and glorious lyrics about love, bad days, and how the devil is roaming around in today’s music.

When The Sun Goes Down is a musical succession showcasing Gomez’s progression and how she has grown into a mature, respectable pop artist who can still manage to have the youngster candy-floss sass of an ex-Disney princess.

“Love You Like A Love Song” accelerates into full speed with icy Rock Mafia dubstep wobbles that spotlight during a a swift chorus claiming of being so in love with a lover, that you want to replay the highlights of the love, like clicking play on a CD player. Gomez’s metamorphosis comes to form in the middle 8 where her lush vocals ride the wave of a dreamy faux-trance moment. “No one compares, you stand alone to every record I own.”

Toby Gad’s 80s video-game synths are lavish with confident retro tunage. A constant brag about Selena’s new boy between verses is both silly and cute: “My new boy he’s got more swagger than you.. My new boy used to be a model,” holding over unborn R&B inspired verses/vocals. Writer Pixie Lott’s delicate touch on a bundle of crystal-clear “Woah-oh-ohs” in “Bang Bang Bang”‘s chorus is both necessary and charismatic.

“Who Says” is acoustic and polished, but yet another “I <3  ME” anthem. It’s a track to listen to when you’re facing a breezy summer day filled with troubled looks or self-esteem issues. “Who says you can’t be in movies, listen to, listen to me, who says you can’t past the test” is a cry of hope to troubled youth, on top of a sparkly chime as the end approaches makes it less sappy and more empowering and, well, believable.

“We Own The Night” is paired with Toby G’s composition of simplified guitar, modified piano, and a singing drum that reminisces of 2001′s Top 40. The track is a calming celebration of spending good times with good friends, putting our day-to-day problems aside, and becoming an A.I. addition of ourselves as the night starts to appear. “Do whatever, be whoever we like, We sleep when we die! Don’t worry about nothing, we own the night!” It’s a husky serenade glimmering over the starry main moment. The cryptic robots spewing words back and forth during the last chorus before the song climbs to its apex turns things around last minute and rubs off an electronic certainty.

From start to finish, you can easily tell that Dr. Luke both produced and wrote “Hit The Lights”. A drum that is being forced to move in the same direction and that same ol’ flashing-fire synth with lyrics that are surprisingly witty. The song presumes that we have a second chance at something we’ve missed out on by converting the energy and losing our regrets on the dance-floor.. “It’s a mad mad world, got to make an escape..” The oblivious shouting in the chorus is tasteless, though, and the lack of ear-striking production puts the lyrics to waste.

Mega pop connoisseur Greg Kurstin’s odyssey “Whiplash” is rancid, hypnotic, and mysterious in the sense that the sounds are playing a game of hide-and-go-seek on a back lit dance floor. With its provoking ambiance, Gomez could’ve possibly recorded it above the pit of a volcano. At times, the song emulates the actual voyeuristic feeling of someone watching you. The pre-chorus is completely berserk, rapidly spoken with British accents, and purrs transitions into a chorus that sincerely bleeds pop: “I’m so in love I think I’m going to crash again! Whiplash-lash-lash,” chants of vocal repetition, space-house “la la la la’s” and cheerleader chants of “Whiplash” makes this track the albums keeper.

The catch to all of this? “Whiplash” was co-written by Britney Spears, the original sex-kitten school girl who clearly cut the song before Gomez, as there is no way Selena could do such a spot-on signature Britney vocal impersonation, with whispers, croons, and audible lip smacks, unless SGo spent her childhood singing along to In The Zone with a brush as the microphone.

Max Martin and Dr. Luke join forces –a rarity, for pop music’s Jesus and Moses– in “When The Sun Goes Down”. Co-penned by vixen Bonnie Mckee with a so-effing-hip ode to Steve Jobs, (“I checked my iphone.. Let me see whats going on!”) Selena preludes to the party-starter chorus where her vocals are nothing but comfortable as she excitingly speed-sings, “The party doesn’t start till the sung goes down!” The track reprises the familiar effects of robots chatting in-verse, as well as cheerleader chants.

“My Dilemma” is a straight 80s-inspired disco dilemma where Gomez complains about being attached to someone who is nothing but bad for her. The fizzle of a bubbly pop-punk rasp in unison with The Knack’s immortal rhythm invention “M-m-m-m-y”. “Dilemma” is a listenable, but ultimately open-and-shut pop track, filler for the album.

Selena is Katy Perry’s dress-up doll on “That’s More Like It”, an oddly out of place feminist song that could be a perspective on gender roles in a relationship. “Make me dinner, bring it to me, that’s more like it!,” she thwacks with an invisible wink on top of the laid back Billy Steinberg jitterbug.

Penultimately, “Outlaw” is a hazy motion upon airy rave characteristics that squander over Gomez’s dark howl disclosing a modern day Casanova who’s dying inside — “The next girl who leaves gets smaller in your rear view mirror.”

The finale is “The Middle Of No Where” a techno love confessional matched with a 80s arena-ready chorus that could be drifted away due to an unlevelled bass line that can’t decide if it’s going to shut up and let Selena own the final track, or not, on When The Sun Goes Down.

This is a review by a french girl that won an exclusive listening of the album.

I think Government hooker really slays. It's one of the best songs on the record, to me. I think I remember lyrics like '' I can be sex '' , '' I can be more ''

When it starts, it sounds exactly like the beggining we heard at Mugler, it's the exact same thing, but there's a new lign, like right after the.... '' I CAN BE COOL she says '' I just, wanna be baaad ''

There's a part of the song that added a new whole dimension and feeling to the Mugler version, though I can't really describe how it songs like, and I'm not sure the word is ''government'', but I guess it is, and let's pretend it is XD something like : '' GAhhhvernment' HOOKAH, Gahhvernement HookaaaHaHaaw ~ '' and it makes the song more fun to sing.. like she says it in an almost childish provocative way.. and the ''Put your hands on me, John F. Kennedy '' is at the end of the song, and I remember a sexy cruel horny Peter's laugh at the end of the song too :P

But honestly, it fucking slays in my opinion. It's just a fucking bad ass song!! It's one of my favorite!

When it begun, I really thought it was going to be the BEST GAGA SONG OF ALL TIMES.

Like it starts with... I don't know how to explain it... like it sounds like Gaga's doing a speech and she sounds really mad, and it's recorded in bad quality kinda.. she's kinda screaming something like '' IF THEY THINK THEY CAN...torture us (?) '' I don't really remember what she did say, I was trying to focus on the words, and then BAM it stops, music starts with a FUCKING FIERCE ''I'M A BITCH.'' ... and I died. the ''I'm a bitch'' was so fucking FIERCE and unexpected!!! I WAS LIKE OMG THAT'S THE BEST SONG EVER... then.... I don't know why..... BUT the chorus sounds sweet and normal/basic I remember I got bored because the melody didn't really change during the whole song.. ugh.. I was like... GAGA WHY, the beggining killed it and the chorus is just.. nooo. And there's a part in the end where she speaks about how her Mom & Dad made her that way... I can't remember the lyrics but I remember that she was saying something like.. when people ask her where she is that way.. it's because her mom and dad made her that way, she's a bad kid. I don't know why but I didn't really liked that part. It's so sad because the beggining was really EVERYTHING.

There are others lyrics like ''I'm a nerd, I'm absurd, I'm a freak...'' etc.

IT REALLY DOES. LIKE, you can't help yourself NOT DANCING TO THAT SONG, it's really SICK and sounded way better than the Mugler version.

It starts with Gaga singing... well not really singing, it's more like you hear her sexy talking voice saying that faux-german part over and over AND HER VOICE SOUNDS SO CLEAR. It's like she's next to you.. I loved it, it's so different and daring like.. to start a song without any MUSIC. The first thing you hear is her talking voice. No music at all. it's crazy, it's like you hear her talking in a unknown language in such a fierce way, I loved it. The beat is really sick, it's one of the fastest songs & I remember the lyrics were interesting... like I think there's a part about how some are perceived like shit for being different? I think I'm half sure she said shit in english in some part in the song lol, It's killing me that I can't remember these lyrics, I loved it so I really tried to memorize it but once Gaga came in I forgot most of the things (cuz she wasn't there during the whole listening, she only came at the middle).

Marry the night..., the beggining almost sounds like that :

It's a stunning beautiful song, it's really the only song that made me cry. (I didn't want to ruin my make-up, so I was struggling haha) It's so empowering and beautiful, the lyrics are...ah, it just makes you stronger It really touched my heart so deeply. It's just so beautiful. I think it's the most meaningful song & it's not really fast. Gaga's voice is amazing on that song.

Hair made me think of The Edge of Glory, I expected the ''I AM MY HAIR'' to sound fast/rebel/fierce but it sounded kinda slower than I expected, I didn't really LOVED it like the other songs.

I have then a huge problem with Electric Chapel and Bloody Marry, because I'm confusing the two songs because of the religious themes.

Bloody Marry starts with a fucking DARK almost disturbing/depressing athmosphere. It's like you're in the sickest funerals ever. It's really, really dark. Some people got scared there LOL, but I thought the intro was pure genius. It sounds so different compared to all the other songs!!!

It's slow.. almost sinister.. and I'm not sure but after the intro, you hear that music that is in the Gagavision when she's walking on the hotel. I think there was different instruments and stuff, like .. organ stuff I think.. I can't remember well but it sounded dark and beautiful.

I remember the word ''SINS'' like washing away sins... and.. the word ''crucify''..

To me it was a masterpiece, to some others, it was just scary.

But I really loved it.

AND I get confused because I thought the ''Dance dance dance With your hands hands hands Above your head like Jesus'' was from Bloody Marry, I was convinced and when I checked I saw it was from Electric Chapel apparently?

That really confuses me, because Electric Chapel really sounds faster compared to Bloody Marry from what I remember ... like you can hear it in the end of Gagavision 43!

& in Electric Chapel, the song gets slower when she sings a part like ''...at the electric chaaapel....'' (I think it's ''meet me at the electric chapel'') but I'm not sure.

and the ''dance.. dance.. dance.. with your hands, hands, hands... (..) '' sounds slow and depressing but it's so beautiful... I don't know why but Bloody Marry's athmosphere made me think of Evanescence's Even In death ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M16f7tIvTc) I'm not saying it sounds like it, it doesn't at all.. but I'm just talking about the dark athmosphere. She's really got that dramatic voice while singing that. She repeats like 3 times I think.

Maybe there was a slower part on Electric Chapel.. lol anyway that confuses me.

AMERICANO IS..... the ''AAAaaAaaaHHHahahHAHahAAAArgHHh'' on the studio version is the almost the exact same that she sings/yells on the live version, but it's faster and it's SICK.

It's like you want to run while hearing it. XD

Lol, actually, I remember I clapped my hands like flamenco dancers to the beat of that song.

It's really POWERFUL, it's got that HUGE latino/mariachi vibe into it, like it sounds like a pop record mixed with huge latino elements, it's really so good!

The ''Don't you try to catch me, Don't you try to catch me NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!'' is so much FUN, like she insists so much on the NO! NO! NO!!! & on the ''I'm living on the edge of the LAWW LAWW LAWW LAWW''

AMEN FASHION BLACK JESUS slayed me. It really did, just like Heavy metal lover.

THE WAY. GAGA. SAYS. AMEN, FASHION. IS. THE FIERCEST THING. I EVER. WITNESSED. IN. MY. WHOLE. LIFE. I don't know how to explain it properly, but while we were there she was making a kind of a move with her hand, like she raised it in a fierce way at everytime there was the ''AMEN, FASHION'' part. It was like she was PREACHING. This song is fucking fierce. and Gaga really was PROUD when we were listening to it. She looked like a bad ASS bitch. It's one of my favorite.

THE ''JESUS IS THE NEW BLACK'' lign is unexpected, it's like in the middle of the song..it's unexpected and sooooo fierce! I'm sorry I know I'm like using the same words but... it's.. I can't put it in words : (

Fashion of his love = I can't rememeber anything but it wasn't really fast and I didn't loved it like the other songs.

The Queen = I just remember having that face :O when I heard :''tonight I will return..''... I was like OOOOOOH SO ITS FROM THAT SONG!!!

HIGHWAY UNICORN = Made me think of 'The Edge of glory'

I don't remember how it sounded like, unfortunately, but IT GAVE ME LIFE.

Anyway, I gave it a 8.5/10 because I disliked Bad kids& I thought some songs sounded a bit alike... But the rest really SLAYED.

So I'd say my favorites are : Heavy Metal Lover, Amen Fashion, Bloody Marry, Marry the night, Scheiße, Governement Hooker, Americano

It's too hard too choose just one or two or three. Not possible

My least favorites : Bad kids, The Queen.

But I don't want people to take my opinions on the song to seriously.. because it was just a first listen, and Gaga was there so I had so much feelings and I was so overwhelmed!!!

I really wanted to do my best to memorize everything that I could because I know how much fans are DYING to know some stuff about the record, I've been there too! But once Gaga came in, I forgot almost every detail of the things I focused in T__T
