Unsurprisingly, the launch of the debut album by Brit teen wonders One Direction was released in two forms: the iTunes-ready, instantly gratifying standard edition and the deluxe "Yearbook Edition" form, most likely a tribute to the pop star annuals that are released for fans each year in the British market. This limited-edition deluxe packaging of the album is the one recommended to be bought in hard form, since it features a book-sized collection of photos, quotes, and lyrics from the five members of Britain's most exciting new band. The deluxe edition contains only two more tracks -- the Disney-pedaled "Stand Up" and the too-sugary Ed Sheeran-penned "Moments"; however, both tracks are perfectly suited to the fans who will buy this version of the album -- the effervescent, bubblegum-chewing, texting tweens who have found five age-appropriate, manicured, smiling pop stars who are less offensive -- but more appealing -- than their '90s boy band equivalents. As a deluxe version of an album, it's middling. However, as a starting point for One Direction fan memorabilia, for which it appears there is limitless potential for the time being, this is a perfectly sized, and targeted, collection.
