Bedingfield finished recording the album in July 2010. The project's title was unveilled through Bedingfield's official twitter page on 15 July 2010. She described the album as "be[ing] the next level from what I've already done. I think I've taken it to another place. It's just more vibrant and exciting. And I can't wait for people to hear it." She has worked with Andreas Kleerup, John Hill, Wyclef Jean, Salaam Remi, Ryan Tedder, Eg White and Sia Furler for the album. She told PopEater that the album's thirteen tracks were taken from more than fifty songs she had written while on tour. She said "I've been touring for so many years now that I wrote with my live gigs in mind. I wanted to write anthems that people could sing along to - things that were still personal, but definitely trying to find the best way to connect with people."
"Touch" was announced as the lead single from the album. It was released to the iTunes Store in the United States on 18 May 2010. Additionally it was sent to US Hot Adult Contemporary and Mainstream on 29 June 2010. It debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at number ninty. However it was declared a buzz single and the album's title track was revealed as the album's lead single. It was released to top 40 radio stations on August 31, 2010 and was released for digital download on September 21, 2010.
